OVERVIEW
What we buy is one of the most powerful tools we consumers have.
For my final project in Design in Motion, I explored the topic of food sustainability in a brief animated short aiming to inform and engage viewers on this critical issue. The goal was to highlight the environmental impact of food production and waste while providing actionable steps individuals can take to make more sustainable choices.

GOALS
How can we bridge the gap between climate awareness and action?
Highlight the impact of everyday purchasing and consumption habits on the planet
Provide actionable suggestions for adopting cleaner, more sustainable consumption practices
PROCESS
After establishing the project's purpose and message, I created moodboards to define the visual direction. I focused on incorporating natural colors and hand-drawn illustrations to emphasize an organic, eco-conscious feel. Pairing modern typography with a minimal design approach, I aimed to balance creativity with clarity—allowing the information to stand out and effectively communicate the importance of food sustainability.
From there, I designed styleframes in Figma to further solidify the design scheme. This process allowed me to experiment with composition, typography, and motion, ensuring the design maintained a cohesive, modern aesthetic while reinforcing the project's core messages.
TAKEAWAY
Over the course of taking this class, I learned how to use Adobe After Effects and gained a greater respect for the effort that goes into creating short advertisements and educational content. Bringing complex research into clear, impactful visuals was an important challenge to create a compelling and clear message.
I was honored to have my work showcased at the 2024 Science Film Festival, where 132 films were screened across 36 countries. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of audience feedback and engagement. With this, I continue to aim to create work that resonates with people—bringing not only informative material but also inspiration.
